Clarence “Bun” Heiden

Clarence “Bun” Heiden, age 88, of Holton Michigan and formerly of Chillicothe, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
Bun was born on April 17, 1923, in Gaylord, Kansas, to Charlie and Elda (Winkkelmann) Heiden and married Patricia on December 17, 1977. Survived by his wife Pat, sons Keith Heiden and Kim “Moe” Heiden of Chillicothe, daughter Kris (Clint-Herberer) Heiden Hood, stepson Tom, grandchildren and sister Dottie (Bud), Fischer of Kearney, NB. He was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Patty Jo.
Bun owned and operated Chilli Wrecker Service for many years, T-Shirt World, and retired from Caterpillar Tractor in Mossville, Illinois. Bun was an Air Force Veteran serving in Italy during WWII and member of the American Legion and VFW in Chillicothe, Ill. and American Legion in Hesperia and Holton, MI. Bun was an avid boater on the Illinois River who took particular pride building his log cabin home.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a donation to Rescue 33.

William N. Radley

William N. Radley, age 77, of Chillicothe died on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Heritage Manor, Chillicothe, IL surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 28, 1934, the son of Norman E. and Rose A. (Honold) Radley. He married Dorothy L. Magee on June 30, 1956 in Chillicothe.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Cindy L. (Greg) Neal of East Peoria and Cathy L. (Steve) Barnett of St. Peters, MO; two grandchildren Kayla Barnett and Jared Barnett; two brothers, Raymond Radley and Frank (Shirley) Radley both of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He retired in 1990 from Caterpillar, Inc., after 39 years of service.
Bill was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed a spirited game of pinochle or bowling with family.
He liked to work on cars, enjoyed midget and sprint car racing and attending car shows.
He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls fan.
Bill served in the U.S. Army.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday evening, March 13, 2012 at 6 P.M. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Jimmy Johnson officiated. Prior to the memorial service, a visitation was held from 4 – 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be held at a later date at the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Central Illinois Chapter, PAWS or to Rescue 33. Following the service, a light meal will be provided for family and friends at George Washington Lodge located at 1528 N. 2nd St., Chillicothe.
The family extends their appreciation and sincerest thanks to all the caregivers and staff at Heritage Manor and Hospice Compassus.

Rema Josephine Armstrong, 82 of Chillicothe IL, died Wednesday April 11, 2012. She was born January 31, 1930 to W. Harl and Rema Nadine Prior in Benton IL. Her parents preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her son Eugene (Chico) Armstrong, her brothers Farrell Prior, and Harl Dean Prior.
Surviving is her husband Ralph Armstrong of Chillicothe, son Ron (Sue) Armstrong, grandchildren Randy (Veronica) Armstrong, Nicole Kraus, brothers Alfred LaVerne (Kathryn) Prior, John Prior and Charlie (Mary) Prior, sisters Linda Gayle (James) Jones, Edna Mae (William) Reed.
Josephine attended Chillicothe Christian Church until entering Country Comfort Assisted Living, Henry IL in 2009. The family sends their thanks for their loving care of Josephine.
Funeral service was held 2:00pm on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe, IL. Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.The Rev. Janice K. Morgan, 59 of Chillicothe passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born June 7, 1952 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Charles H. and Helen A. (Gronewold) Carroll. She married Michael L. Morgan on July 14, 1974 in Chillicothe.
Surviving are her husband, mother, two children; Dara (Chad) Wagner of Chillicothe and Patrick (Lynsey) Morgan of Westminster, CO, two grandchildren; Griffin and Etta Wagner. Also surviving is one sister; Sue (Robert) Wittenkind of Fairfield, CT and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Jan had been a secretary at Illinois Valley Central High School for the past 11 years.
Jan was also an active member in Gift of Hope and was a speaker at many area high schools and organizations for organ donation. She herself was a 17 year survivor of a double lung and kidney transplant.
She was a member of Toastmasters Peoria Chapter and a past member of the Chillicothe Jr. Women’s Club.
She was a member of Chillicothe First United Methodist Church. She was a past youth director.
She was an amazing quilter and loved cooking for everyone.
Funeral service will be held 11:00am on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Chillicothe First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ted Mitchell and Rev. Raymond Harrison will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and inurnment will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gift of Hope or Rescue 33. William “Bill” Edward Finnegan

William “Bill” Edward Finnegan, 71 of Sparland, Il died Monday, January 7, 2013, in Cape Coral, Fl. 
He was born on September 8, 1941 in Spring Valley, Il. The son of Edward John and Edith (Clift) Finnegan. He was a graduate of Sparland High School, Class of 1959. He married Janet Augustine in 1961 in Chillicothe, they divorced in 1974. In 1985 he married Linda (Kennedy) Finnegan whom he remained married to until his death.
Surviving are his children, Cheryl (Jaime) Finnegan de Shelley of Mexico City, MX., Louise (Jim) Blackmon of Mountain Home, AR, Shawn Finnegan of Los Angeles, CA, six grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane (Jim) Mattingly of RR Lacon, Il, Catherine Ann (Ron) Moore of Lacon, Il; his wife Linda, her daughter Kimberly (William) Buster of Hanna City, Il, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Emalee Louise Blackmon.
Bill was a medical administrator at Caterpillar, Inc., and retired in 1996 after 32 years of employment. After his retirement he became a bailiff for the Marshall County Sherriff’s Department in Lacon, Il. He was an active member of his community in Hopewell Estates and St. Edwards Church in Chillicothe, Il.
In 1963, Bill joined the Chillicothe Fire Department. He retired from active duty in 1983, and in 2003 was reinstated as Senior Captain, recruiter, advisor, and historian to the fire department.
Throughout his life, Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. When he wasn’t outdoors, you could find him at the coffee shop telling stories with his friends or in his woodworking shop working on his latest project. Bill never met a stranger and many were blessed with his friendship and kindness.
To celebrate his life, the family will receive friends from 4-7pm, Friday, January 18th with a prayer service to follow at Weber Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Il. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Saturday, January 19th at St. Edwards Church with a lunch to follow at the parish hall.

Patricia Ann Crawford, 74 of Chillicothe passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Heritage Health in Chillicothe.

 

She was born December 20, 1938 in Cleveland, MS the daughter of Joseph A. and Willie R. (Houston) Correro.  She married Mager L. Crawford on August 4, 1957 in Cleveland, MS.  He preceded her in death in 1998.

 

Surviving are two daughters; Cindy (Leon) Shane of Chillicothe and Debbie (Chris) Talcott of Peoria, two sons; Michael (Renee) Crawford of Chillicothe and Jeff Crawford of Chillicothe, six grandchildren; Brian (Tracy) Smith, Andrea Smith, Maggie Smith, Zach Crawford, Matthew Shane and Abby Shane, 4 Great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Smith, Brody Smith, Ruben Smith-Hernandez and Carter Little.  Also surviving are her siblings; Phillip (Fran) Correro of Olive Branch, MS, Joseph (Glenda) Correro of Cleveland, MS, Quinn Correro of Cleveland, MS and Dorothy (Dr. Peter) Sylvester of Panama City, FL.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, son; Scott and sister Pamela.

 

She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and was involved with groups at church and the Mother’s Group.

 

Patricia was a loving grandmother and mother with a beautiful smile that will be missed.  She touched everyone she met.

 

Funeral Mass was held at 11:00am on Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Edward Catholic Church.  The Rev.  Thomas Mizur officiated.  Burial was in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Roger D. Russell-Roger D. Russell, 74, of Chillicothe, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Saturday January 19, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on August 1, 1938 in Peoria to the late Linus and Mildred (Crotz) Russell. He married Crystal A. Russell on June 1, 1958 in Lacon; she survives.

 

Also surviving are daughters Anita (Jack) Hart, of Sparland, and Cindy Berg, of Chillicothe; son Jimmie Russell, of Kuttawa, KY; grandchildren Stacey Streitmatter, Mindy Adams, David Adams, Kristi Adams, Diane Thompson, Kendra Sanders, Trista Sanders, Jennifer Russell, Christopher Russell, and Melanie Russell; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Diane K. Holt, of Marshall, TX.

 

He was preceded in death by one niece, Jackie Holt-Foster.

 

Roger was retired from JT Fennel, where he worked for over 25 years. He owned Russell Disposal in Chillicothe for over 10 years, which is now Wigand. He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsman Club, the 15 Club in Lacon, and a former member of the Casting Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt.

 

Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be on Thursday January 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lacon Congregational Church. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Thomas J. Ramsay of Chillicothe

Thomas J. Ramsay, age 88, of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Sharon Elms Health Care Center in Peoria. 

 

Tom was born on March 28, 1924 in Chillicothe, Illinois to Thomas Benton and Lydia Mae (Newell) Ramsay.  He married Pauline Fenton on October 29, 1955 in Peoria.

 

Tom is survived by his wife, Pauline; his son, Gregory (Robin) Ramsay of Peoria; his daughter, Mary (Rick) Jackson of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Benjamin Ramsay of Peoria and Ian (Brooklynn) Ramsay of Peoria; and one great-grandson, Issac Ramsay.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl.

 

Tom worked as a tool grinder for Hyster Company in Peoria for over 30 years until the factory closed.  He then worked for Caterpillar in Mossville for several years.  Tom served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-24 gunner in the South Pacific.  Tom was an avid golfer and member of the Lacon Country Club for a number of years.  He had 4 holes-in-one.  Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

 

Services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Rev. Marcus-Allen A. Barlow

Marcus-Allen A. Barlow, age 28, of Chillicothe, formerly of Bartonville, after nearly defeating the demons that plagued his life the last few years, Marcus-Allen’s heart was finally overtaken.  A heart that was full of love and compassion for everyone he came in contact with; and a smile that made a room glow.  He passed away on Thursday,  January 31, 2013 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

 

Marcus-Allen was born on November 6,  1984 in Peoria, Illinois to Fredric L. Barlow and Joyce L. (Hibbert) Barlow.

 

He is survived by his parents, Fredric L. Barlow of Hanna City and Joyce L. Barlow of Chillicothe; his sister, Rachael-Nicole Barlow-Sharpe of Hanna City; his fiance, April Peterson of Chillicothe; his grandparents, William and Twila Barlow of Peoria, Richard Hibbert of South Pekin and Judith Hibbert of Mapleton; his aunts and uncles, David, Janet, Bonnie and Doug; and his best friend and beloved dog, Paddor.

 

Marcus-Allen was a  graduate of Limestone High School with academic honors.  He was Captain of the football and wrestling teams and was a member of the basketball team.  Marcus-Allen attended Knox College in Galesburg from 2003-2006 where he was majoring in Law and Psychology. He was also a member of the Prairie Fire Football team.  Marcus-Allen was a chef at Di’s Track Inn Restaurant in Chillicothe and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, sports and cooking.

 

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 4:30pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Rev. Raymond Harrison will be officiating.  Visitation will also be held on Wednesday following the service until 8pm at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Memorials may be made to Rescue 33.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com

At 11:04am last Thursday, one month shy of her 93rd birthday, Velma took her last few breaths and departed this earth after spending the last 21 months at Heritage Manor in Chillicothie, IL. She lived a long and fruitful life and has now joined her husband Ray who left us October 12, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, Jan 30, at St John’s Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main St. Buckley, IL, with the Rev. Daniel A. Olson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Buckley.
Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E. Lincoln St., Buckley, and at the church Wednesday one hour before the funeral service.
Velma was born Feb 24, 1920, in Buckley, the oldest daughter of Menke and Laura Steinmann Janssen. She married Raymond H. Sprehe on Sept 20, 1942, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley. Velma and Ray first met when they started first grade in 1926 and started dating when they were juniors at Buckley high school.
Velma is survived by her four children; Carol (James) Liston of Pacifica, CA, Joyce (Robert) Close of Chillicothie, IL, Rev. Ronald (Esther) Sprehe of Amherst, NY, and Norma (Todd) Gledhill of Syracuse, IN. Velma is also survived by five granddaughters, Tammy Boyd, Rachel Piering, Gretchen Sprehe, Elizabeth Sprehe and Christine Sprehe; five grandsons, Jerry Kirk Randall, Nathan Piering, Ben Piering, Aaron Piering and Mark Gledhill; and two great grandsons, Jerry Stephen Randall and Mason Raymond Piering; two sisters, Arleen Houtzel of Buckley and Marie (Ralph) Stroup of Buckley and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Erna Mull; and two brothers-in-law.
Velma graduated from Buckley High School in 1938 and attended a business school in Kankakee, IL.
She performed many different jobs in conjunction with being a mom and grandma, including: office secretary in Kankakee, IL, school cook at Christ Lutheran School in Peoria, IL, assistant librarian at Manual Training High School in Peoria, IL, admissions assistant at IUPU in Fort Wayne, IN, private secretary at Auers Investment Co. in Fort Wayne, IN, and Investments Dept. at Lincoln National Bank in Fort Wayne, IN.
Preferred memorial: Christ Lutheran High School; Buckley, Illinois, or an organization of the donor’s choice.

Bernice M.Meismer, 95, of Lacon passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday January 27, 2013 at Heartland ManorCare in Henry. She was born on December 4, 1917 in Lourdes, IL to the late Albert and Genevieve (Kerker) Waechter. She married Herman Meismer on May 4, 1940 in Pekin, IL; he preceded her in death on January 6, 1986.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Beverly) Meismer, of Grovetown, GA, and William (Cheryel) Meismer, of Varna, IL; one daughter Cheryl (Jerry) Joyce, of Chillicothe; six grandchildren, Annette (William)Lowe, Jerry (Joy) Meismer, Lisa (Aaron) Moore, Tina (Bob) Barisch, Amie (Jon) Cox, and Kimberly (Michael) Rudolphi; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
She worked for Bemis Bag and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, the Methodist Quilt Group, the Ladies Card Club, and the Marshall-Putnam County Farm Bureau. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday January 31, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon. Father Tom Mizeur will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lacon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 30, 2013, at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, with prayers at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Lacon Community Center or the Church’s Altar Rosary Society. Angelo Reno Forbis, age 43, of Chillicothe, passed on Monday, January 28, 2013 at his residence.

 

Angelo was born on August 6, 1969 in Peoria, Illinois to Joseph A. and Jayne A. (Webb) Forbis.

 

He is survived by his mother, Jayne, of Kewanee, Illinois; three brothers, Stephen (Kimberly) Forbis of Peoria, Illinois, Arthur J. (Madelyn) Forbis of Kewanee, Illinois and Joseph I. (Mandy) Forbis of Chillicothe, Illinois; one sister, Joy (Keith) Forbis-Speth of Gilboa, New York; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, in 1994 and his grandparents.

 

Angelo attended SEAPCO in Peoria and worked for the Community Workshop Training Center in Peoria. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Chillicothe and sang in the Special Touch Ministries Choir. Angelo competed in the Special Olympics in bowling, basketball and shot put and competed on a dart league. Angelo, “The Dancing Machine,” was a social butterfly. He let his light shine brightly for the whole world to see and shared his love freely with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed.

 

Services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Rev. Ed Dutton will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. There will be a lunch following the committal service at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria. Memorials may be made to Special Touch Ministries.
